I have been with Sealock since early 2017 and in the adhesives industry since 2013.

I have been with Sealock since early 2017 and in the adhesives industry since 2013. I have spent my whole, so far 35 year career in commercial roles primarily in sales or sales management. Much of my time has been spent working for large corporate organisations but nothing has been more enjoyable than my time here at Sealock where the ability to make a difference to our customers quickly by being flexible and agile is unparalleled. I love managing the Sealock sales team and working very closely with them as well as looking after my own customers, all driven by our customer focused ‘can do’ approach to doing business.

As a ‘people’ person my business philosophy remains that people matter. I aim to build high quality long lasting working relationships with colleagues and customers alike which are based on trust and mutual respect thereby creating partnerships which will deliver the best outcomes for all concerned.

I am life long Chelsea supporter and season ticket holder- it’s been a roller coaster ride! Personal highlight being at the game in Munich when Chelsea won the Champion’s League. I continue to pursue my deep seated and long lasting interest in ‘heavy metal’ music and continue to be an active concert goer and a re-discoverer of my beloved vinyl.

More recently I have discovered the joy of owning a campervan and a Cockerpoo, both of which I hope help me keep fit and healthy.

I joined Sealock in July 2021 as the Northern Sales Manager having previously worked for over 25 years in the manufacture and supply of water-based Polymer adhesives and coatings to the flooring and textile industries.
Starting my working life in the Technical Service & Development Laboratory, I then progressed through to Technical Service before spending the majority of my career in Sales and Account Management roles.
As a recent addition, it is fast apparent the great company ethos and the willingness to go the extra mile for the customer and I look forward to becoming an integral member of the hard working, dedicated team.

In my spare time…

I’m father to two pre-teen girls, so as most parents will know, I spend most of my spare time trying to entertain the kids! We enjoy going for country walks and adventures in the local woods and playing board/card games or watching a movie.
I’m a general sports fan and an avid Man Utd supporter and love watching my team play as often as I can. It’s not been an easy watch over the last decade but, the same as every other team’s fans the world over, I still cling to the hope that the good times will return.

I joined Sealock in 2018 following 20 years’ experience in a variety of direct selling roles. Previously I worked in distributor sales which included adhesives but I am particularly enjoying working for a UK manufacturer and the ability this gives me to provide compelling commercial and technical solutions to both existing and new customers.
As well as ensuring I bring the very best technical and service solutions to our customers I am driven and always keen to engage with prospective new customers to Sealock in the belief that we can offer improved adhesive supply arrangements.
I love being part of a close knit team at Sealock and firmly believe our team ethic is at the core of our success.

I am a friendly, outgoing personality character full of energy and ambition. I’m a family man who is very active, loves to keep fit but still occasionally likes to indulge his lifelong love of pizzas!

I joined Sealock in April of 2022, after previously working for over 25 years in a variety of sales roles within the construction industry.

I joined Sealock in April of 2022, after previously working for over 25 years in a variety of sales roles within the construction industry. Of those 25+ years the past 7 years had been in paint sales. The opportunity to join a well-established UK manufacturer was an exciting one, and I am thoroughly enjoying utilising my sales experience whilst engaging with both existing and new customers. The fact that Sealock are such a well-respected family run company was also a huge draw for me, and I love being part of the Sealock family.

Outside of work my wife and 2 young children keep me busy and on my toes. I enjoy running and regularly partake in Parkrun’s and am also proud to say that I have a London marathon under my belt. I’m a fan of Southampton FC for my sins and I also love music. I have an eclectic taste, which ranges from everything from Andrea Bocelli to The Prodigy. My love of music spurred me on to enter Radio 2’s Popmaster and I’m pleased to say that I’m the proud recipient of a winning digital speaker, which takes pride of place on my shelf at home!

Business Development Manager

Nigel James

I joined Sealock in 2026, bringing with me more than 40 years of experience within the adhesives, coatings and chemical industries.

My career began in a technical laboratory environment after studying industrial chemistry, before progressing through technical service, product development, sales and commercial management roles. During that time, I gained practical formulation experience across a broad range of technologies, including hot-melt, water-based and solvent-based adhesives, as well as polyester, polyamide, polyurethane and acrylic systems. This combination of technical and commercial experience allows me to understand not only what an adhesive needs to do, but also how it must perform within a customer’s production process.

As New Business Development Manager, I work with customers throughout the UK, identifying new applications and developing long-term relationships across a wide range of manufacturing sectors. I particularly enjoy visiting production sites, understanding how products are made and working collaboratively with customers and Sealock’s technical team to find practical adhesive solutions that improve performance, reliability or efficiency.

I believe successful business relationships are built through technical credibility, honest communication and a genuine willingness to understand the customer’s needs. Sealock’s flexibility, technical capability and customer-focused approach provide an excellent platform from which to develop those relationships.

Outside work, I have travelled extensively and continue to enjoy discovering new places. I also have a keen interest in renewable energy, technology, home automation, DIY and home improvements, and enjoy finding new and sometimes unconventional ways of making systems work more effectively.

Business Development Manager - PUR

Building on over 10 years’ experience in developing and commercialising cutting edge chemistries, my role with Sealock started in 2026 with a focus on high performance PUR technology.

Following my Chemistry studies at the University of Warwick (MChem), I discovered my passion of solving real life technical problems, adding real value for the customer. This initially took me into a role developing new products for an oil additive company for over 18 months.

In 2017, I became the first employee of a UK start-up focusing on novel specialty chemicals in the coatings and additives sector. It was a great experience to take a product from milligrams through to multi-tonne scale, and to transition from product development, through scaleup, into a commercial development role with customers across USA, Europe and Asia.

I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience to this new role at Sealock, and working closely with our colleagues at Follmann, I aim to overcome key customer problems across the UK and offer high-performance technical solutions that create real value for our customers.

Outside of work, I have a broad range of interests including live music, sports including ice hockey and football, a love of hiking in the outdoors, and a passion for real ale.

Joining Sealock in 2005, I took on the role of Administrator which over the years has developed, evolved and encompasses a wide spectrum of responsibilities for both UK and Export sales. Within the company, a key factor is to maintain communications between the Sales Office and Production Team, whilst outwardly, liaising with freight forwarders to ensure smooth transportation of adhesives to customers. The position ultimately focuses on providing a high standard of customer service. Also I am qualified to perform internal quality systems audits and emergency first aid at work.

To unwind, I love to be out in the peace and tranquillity of open spaces, whether it be walking, running or cycling – taking in what nature has to offer. On the polar opposite, l enjoy the noise, thrill and excitement of live music at concerts and festivals.

My passion for people, building teams and enabling employees to make the best decisions to progress their abilities and careers gives me the most satisfaction day to day.
Since joining Sealock it was noticeable that a real family culture existed and I was made to feel part of this very early on, whilst we steer Sealock into the future of new technology and embrace our owners Follmann, I will strive to ensure we keep some of the values and identity of Sealock.

My passions outside of work are cooking and walking in the New Forest, I find it a good way to relax and forget about the world for a few hours.
I have been asked to sum myself up in 3 words in the past which was very difficult as 3 words never seem enough but eventually, I chose these:
